Ir Amim (“City of Nations” or “City of Peoples”) is an Israeli non-partisan organization focused on Jerusalem in the context of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and working for an equitable and stable Jerusalem with an agreed-upon political future. Prior to Ir Amim, Amos served as the first Executive Director of Congregation Beth Simchat Torah in Manhattan, the world’s largest gay and lesbian Jewish congregation. Amos is also a former executive director of the Association for Civil Right in Israel, the largest and leading human rights organization in Israel and the only NGO dealing with the entire spectrum of rights issues. He has been an active member of the civil rights community in Israel for over fifteen years, including work with Americans for Peace Now. He has substantive expertise in human rights and personal security issues, policies and their implementation, both in Israel and the US.
