Yentl needed to dress in drag to be her true self and journey both physically as well as geographically to follow her dreams of studying Torah. Many other famous Jewish movie characters from Tevye the Milkman to Alvie Singer to the Jazz Singer to the Yiddle with her Fiddle and so on journey to find themsleves and to discover who they are.
