Calling all tots through 1st graders. What’s something Jews around the world all have in common? Eating! And someone’s got to make all that delicious food! Come discover the joys of cooking your favorite Jewish Mediterranean dishes. You will even get to decorate your very own apron to take home. The whole Meggillah- Purim Speil 2010- A journey to celebrate! 4th to Adult This workshop will practice this year’s Purim spiel, a musical theatrical extravaganza based on the show GLEE. This workshop will rehearse the play and musical numbers. We will also learn new midrash about the Purim story. Actors, dancer, singers join us to create this Shusanian wonder! Rebecca Weiner
MaSheiv HaRuach:The Book of Ruth as a Journey of Jewish Healing -Adults In this session we will read the Book of Ruth from the perspective of a healing journey for Naomi as she grieves for her lost husband and sons and Ruth accompanies her along the way. We will also discuss what how illness, grieving and dying impact our own experience of Judaism as a spiritual practice and how we can accompany each other through the most painful and potent moments in life. D'veikut - 6th graders to Adults This ongoing circle with changing and meditation will be hosted by different leaders focusing on a range of paths towards accessing the divine. This session will be led by Shoshana Levenberg & Susan Lubeck.
The Wandering Jew Goes to the Movies 4th - Adult - Part II What does it mean to be on a Jewish Journey? How does film bring that out in different ways? In this session for Shabbat Simcha, we will watch film clips that portray a Jewish Journey of some sort. Yentl needed to dress in drag to be her true self and journey both physically as well as geographically to follow her dreams of studying Torah. Many other famous Jewish movie characters from Tevye the Milkman to Alvie Singer to the Jazz Singer to the Yiddle with her Fiddle and so on journey to find themselves and to discover who they are. How can we learn about ourselves and our respective Jewish and Queer Identities by viewing Jewish films? This session is for 4th graders through adult learners. Shalom Rosenberg
Bake Sale for Social Justice- Raising money for the Haitian Earthquake victims 4th-Adult In this service learning workshop, we prepare delicious treats for our ongoing bake sale to raise money for Haitian earthquake victims. Come prepared to roll up sleeves, roll out cookie dough and learn about gimulut hassidim. The items you bake will help support our ongoing bake sale!
