11:00am - A Book of many colors, bible stories and more. (Tots and Ge'avah) with Jessie Austin, Ida Kuluk, Andrea Guerra and Yael Zakan Calling all tots through 1st graders. Come learn about people of the book with the story of Joseph. We'll read, learn, explore, and even get to make our own coat of many colors. Please bring a large white tee shirt and wear clothes that you don't mind getting fabric paint on. Let the stories begin.....
With all your heart and all your might!- Shinnui- Jaron Kangenson This class will look at the prayer Shema and Vehavta through poetry and collage. The students will all create a reflection of this prayer. These reflections will be included in a booklet to be used at opening circle.
People of the Song, Build your own Klezmer Band- Everyone- Rabbi Dev Noily and Daniel Meyer O' Keefe In this workshop participants will create festive music based on the klezmer musical style. You will learn about the roots of klezmer and study the text of some Jewish music. Please bring your instruments and be prepared to make music worthy of this simcha!
D'veikut - 6th graders to Adults, Shoshana Levenberg & Ruth Schoenbach This ongoing circle with chanting and meditation will be hosted by different leaders focusing on a range of paths towards accessing the divine.
A Serious Man-Reflections on post war Jewry in film and the book of Job Rebecca Weiner and Rabbi Camille Shira Angel 6th- Adult This workshop will view and discuss the movie " A Serious Man" by the Coen brothers. The workshop will study the semiotics of Jewish representation in film and explore the intersection between the film narrative, Rashi and the book of Job and these texts influences on the characters and themes in the film.
The Keshet crew performs views on Diaspora and Israel Education- 4th grade to Adult, Meredith Fenton This workshop will view a performance by the Keshet crew, a group of young LGBT Jewish artists. Their performance will explore the group's perspectives on their Israel education growing up and how it impacted their current views. Participants will reflect on the influences and texts that have shaped their perspectives on Israel and their experience as diaspora Jewry. Supported by a grant from the Legacy Heritage Innovation Project of Legacy Heritage Programming, an affiliate of the Legacy Heritage Fund
