Please join us as the acclaimed Bay Area writers and translators Chana Bloch and Chana Kronfeld read from and discuss their newly published book, Hovering at a Low Altitude: The Collected Poetry of Dahlia Ravikovitch. One of Israel's greatest poets, Ravikovitch (1936-2005) was also a trailblazing feminist and political commentator. Bloch and Kronfeld, widely praised for their translation of Yehuda Amichai's final book Open Closed Open, bring her work brilliantly to life in English.

Adrienne Rich has written, "Ravikovitch rarely hovers without swooping; here is poetry of high attainment brought under a lens of insightful translation."

Robert Alter adds, "These strong and vivid translations manage to convey both the biblical resonances and the contemporary urgency of Dahlia Ravikovitch's poetry. They make accessible to American readers a major twentieth-century poet whose work is a unique fusion of the personal and the political."
