Help Heal the City
Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, 1975 Post (at Steiner)
Come join our sister congregations of San Francisco Organizing Project at a citywide rally to put forth a vision of a Healthy City, even if you're not sure you understand what SFOP is and what this organizing stuff is, and even if politics frays your nerves. As we shared stories with each other in our own Listening Campaign, now let's fulfill the mitzvah of tikkun olam by working together to help support the current movement for national health care reform, shape the future of San Francisco, and build the strength of grassroots organizing. People from all faith backgrounds, class, and race will gather this Sunday to give testimony about current challenges, and urge our public officials to work on them.

We should turn out for this action in large numbers because:
1) organizing is something we have already committed to at CSZ by joining and working with SFOP
2) the centerpiece of the action will be supporting affordable health care for everyone, which is the first issue we identified in our first listening campaign, and which still affects people in our own  community
3) one of the principles we adopted at our first action was that health care needed to be addressed at federal and state levels - this is our chance to have an impact nationally
4) this action will build credibility and influence with officials, which we need to increase our impact
5) asking people to do things that matter is a service, not an imposition, to the individual and for the community
6) attending the action is a small time commitment for you and those you will bring, and will let you get the flavor of the multi-faith, multi-race, multi-class coalition that is SFOP
7) acting on our issues is a way to show care and respect for ourselves and our community members
8) turning out 100 people from CSZ for this action will help us earn our reputation as one of the top synagogues in organizing and social justice nationally
9) you'll do a little, learn a little; how bad could it be?

Come be a part of history in the making!!  For more info, contact Dana Vinicoff at vinicoff@hotmail.com or call SFOP at 821-5000.
