Reading/Discussion
7:30 pm: AUTHOR YOSSI AVNI

Prior to his career as an author, Yossi Avni was as an intelligence officer in the IDF and served as a diplomat in Berlin, Bonn, Belgrade, and Warsaw. Avni’s writing is personal and poetic and is noteworthy for its intimacy.  He has written about the tribulations of coming out of the closet, loneliness, detachment, and feeling trapped. The extended periods Avni spent outside Israel on his diplomatic postings are also reflected in his works. In 2007, he won the Prime Ministers Prize for literature.
