Tikkun Leil Shavuot

CSZ's Tikkun Leil Shavuot begins with a festival Ma'ariv Service at 6:30 pm, followed by a dairy potluck at7:00. Teaching sessions will begin at 8:00 pm and continue until late.

Jewish Poems of Light and Darkness with Dan Bellm

To prepare for studying from dusk to dawn (more or less!), we’ll look at a variety of Jewish poems through the ages that have contemplated darkness, light, or both in some way – from Isaiah, Job, the Zohar, to Mandelstam, Zelda, Ginsberg, Rich, and Paley.

 
The Mitzvot: Understanding God's Commandments with Rabbi Camille Angel
We will study from Pebbles of Wisdom by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz.
Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz is a teacher, philosopher, social critic and prolific author. He is best known for his monumental commentary on the Babylon Talmud.

Mispacha Matters with Rebecca Weiner
This workshop will examine family dynamics in biblical narratives. What can these biblical texts illuminate for us in terms of our own family relationships. We will explore the story of Ruth, Abraham and Sarah and Issac and Rachel and Leah and discuss their relevancy for contemporary family issues.
 
Leyning the 10 Commandments with Gabriel Lambert
A class on the wording and melody/ies of the 10 Commandments  We will look at the two different appearances and how the commandments are divided according to different religions.   All the nuances will be illuminated and discussed including the two simultaneous trope markings on the text in the chumash and even the effect of the long sentences on how it is sung.

Jewish/Muslim Text Study with Andrew Ramer
In this study session we will be reading and discussing Jewish and Muslim texts on revelation.
